The Lonely Planet guidebook describes Mirissa thus "the beach will give you a taste of paradise, sleepy Mirissa is a place so idyllic only a fool would want to leave" The Villa has 5 bedrooms upstairs equipped with 4 poster beds, high ceilings & balconies with either garden or sea views. The light airy rooms have eco-friendly fans, traditional furniture and have cooling polished cement floors with modern stylish en-suite facilities.Downstairs the Villa has an open-sided breakfast room, television lounge and the back of the property has a large wraparound verandah facing out onto the garden.Cinnamon trees shade the house and the front garden is dotted with swaying coconut palms while the garden to the rear is built on a series of terraces to accommodate our vegetable plot & spice garden. The large landscaped garden also has mature mango, papaya, cashew, banana and scented frangipani trees. It also includes two ponds and is filled throughout with exotic tropical flowers and dotted with hammocks for long, relaxing lazy days. Mirissa itself has great snorkelling & safe swimming as our bay is protected by a reef,we also have our own canoes to use in the sea or on a nearby lake which is a bird lovers paradise.Mirissa is also well known for surfing and is the number one place in the World to view blue whales (boat trips leave from the harbour) it also has the Southernmost lighthouse on the Island for superb views from the top.The historic town of Galle is only 45 minutes away along a lovely coastal drive past the famous stilt fishermen and there are some World class hotels and restaurants that serve reasonably priced lunches & dinners. The laid back resort also has many beachside restaurants within a short stroll or tuk tuk ride away.
