The town is a two hour drive from Halifax Airport at the far end of the Annapolis Valley. it is famous for its seafood, especially its scallop fleet which you can see coming and going from the dock from the upstairs windows. The town has all the amenities such as malls, large food stores and chain stores as well as a querky high street with many small shops, restaurants, pubs etc. The local people are known for their friendliness and strive to make everyone feel at home.
The house is a ten minute walk from the Digby Pines championship golf course, twenty minutes from the grand Digby Pines Hotel and a five minute walk from the heart of the High St. World famous whale watching tours originate from the harbour and there are many orchards and local vineyards which are growing in popularity.
The area is blessed with the most temperate climate in Nova Scotia with very warm summers and mild winters. All of Nova Scotia and the other Maritime Provinces of Canada for that matter are known as Canada's hidden secret as the pace of life is slow and the cost of living much less than in the larger more touristy centres. The ideal spot for a recharge of ones batteries on holiday.
