Riad Ciel Blue has been our holiday home in Marrakech for over 10 years, we have had some amazing times here and now offer the house for your exclusive use. While being renovated to offer the comforts one would expect we have retained all of the charm and character that now makes this riad a delightful place from which to explore this exotic city.
The local area is the most highly regarded district of the ancient medina and offers a wonderful opportunity to get a real feel for this World Heritage Site. The streets around the house are pedestrian only making this a very quiet and peaceful locality however a 3 minute walk puts you right in the center of all the bustle that makes the city so captivating. The main square, Jemaa el Fna, and the myriad of shops that make up the grand souks, are just 5 minutes away on foot with local shops, cafes and restaurants even closer. The position makes it incredibly easy to explore, especially with children who are always welcome at Riad Ceil Blue.
The house sleeps up to six people in three double bedrooms, there is a cot and highchair available for a young child. While offering very generous living space for 6 adults the house also makes a perfect romantic hideaway for two.
One enters the house through a small door from the narrowest of streets, from the entrance hall two steps lead you down to the open courtyard where the plunge pool is located under the banana trees. From the courtyard there is access to the kitchen from which Atiqa, our cook and housekeeper, produces the most wonderful traditional Moroccan meals. The kitchen is basic and set up for the use of the cook but it is not "off limits" guests are most welcome to make snacks and drinks and a fridge is provided for guests exclusive use to store their own items however Atiqa is available to prepare any meals you may wish to eat at home, they are always delicious and great value at 140 Dh for lunch and 180 Dh for dinner, around £10 and £14 per person. This is a fantastic chance to taste some real Moroccan home cooking made from whatever is fresh in the market that day.
On the other side of the courtyard is a double bedroom and a bathroom with bath and separate shower. There is an additional small shower room and WC.
Stairs take you up to an open loggia area on the first floor that overlooks the pool below and is home to a dining table and a sitting area. From the loggia you can enter the salon with traditional seating for up to 10 people, there is a open fire for winter evenings, a CD/iPod dock and a TV with numerous satellite channels. Doors also lead to the remaining two double bedrooms that connect via an en-suite shower room, both rooms have direct access, an ideal set up for families with children. Lastly, a flight of stairs lead up to the very generous roof terrace where a Berber tent provides some relief from the sun, there is also a dining table and sunbeds.
All three bedrooms are air conditioned and have heaters for the cooler months.
The house is decorated in Moroccan style and charm, the layout is quirky, authentic and typical of the medina houses, you will be left in no doubt that you are at the very center for a truly exotic city.
The prices quoted are for 4 people sharing, additional people incur a supplement of £50 per week or £10 per night for shorter stays.
