Casa Alloro is a light and airy seafront home in the south of Sicily located near to the popular area of San Lorenzo and the picturesque village of Marzamemi. This lovely three-bedroom villa can sleep six people and is just a short walk from the coast, making it ideal for a family holiday or a break with friends. Casa Alloro is a recently built yet typically Mediterranean home which is well finished with simple decor and sleek furnishings. The cosy house comprises of spacious bedrooms and an open-plan living, kitchen and dining space, meaning the home offers privacy to retreat in the evenings yet is a sociable hub for eating and spending time together when you wish. The villa also has lots of features and gadgets to help make your stay more comfortable, including; air conditioning, satellite TV, WiFi and an Ipod docking station. The living areas of the house flow seamlessly to the terrace and the garden beyond. Outside you will find a fantastic and spacious garden with a covered seating area with sofas which are great for unwinding with a glass of wine in the evening. The highlight, however, is the amazing private pool which overlooks the Ionian Sea. As well as being a beautiful home sitting in a brilliant garden, this villa is also in the ideal location! You are just a stones throw away from the beach as you will see from the incredible views from the house and garden. This local beach is not the only one on offer however and in nearby San Lorenzo you will find lots of pretty coves and amazing beaches. There are also plenty of shops and restaurants close to the villa and in San Lorenzo which is great for when you want to stay local. If you wish to go out for the afternoon, then you are well-placed to visit several amazing places. Nearby, for example, is the town of Marzamemi which was once a sleepy fishing village, Marzamemi is just ten minutes away by car. This 10th-century Arab village is known to be one of the prettiest on Sicily and makes for a lovely day out. There are winding streets filled with eateries and shops to look around, historic monuments and buildings and amazing sea views. A lovely time to visit Marzamemi is in the early evening when the piazzas are filled with live music which you can enjoy while eating a sumptuous local meal. Overlooking the Ionian Sea with beaches, shops, cafes and restaurants within walking distance, this is an ideal holiday location and you have everything you need nearby to enjoy your Sicilian break. Close to the villa, there are many small shopping areas and villages where you will find all the amenities you need day-to-day and some great places to eat. There are also a wide range of beaches close by from the wide sandy beaches of San Lorenzo, to the protected rocky coves of the Vendicari nature reserve where you can observe migrating birds such as flamingos. There are enough smaller towns and beaches nearby that you can base your entire holiday locally if you wish and have plenty to see and do. San Lorenzo and Marzamemi are two of the nearby towns, both under ten-minutes away. San Lorenzo is a much-loved seaside resort with fantastic beaches and eateries. Many of the attractions of San Lorenzo are based around the stunning coastline and if you would like to get out and enjoy more of it you could hire a boat or take part in a boat trip. Some of these trips can last the whole day and provide lunch, on a full-day trip you can snorkel over ship-wrecks, visit caves, learn about local history and stop for peaceful swimming breaks. Marzamemi is also built around the sea and you will love the old harbour which is the heart of the community. The village also has a few historic and religious buildings to visit, including a palace, a 10th-century tuna processing plant and the Church of San Francesco di Paola. Heading a little further out is the Baroque city of Noto. Noto is just 24km away but you will feel like you have stepped back in time when you see the majestic architecture. This beautiful city is a great place to visit and you could spend your time just taking in the atmosphere of the gorgeous streets such as Corso Vittorio Emanuele. This main street leads on to three pretty squares and three staggering churches. If you visit Noto in May, you will be treated to an incredible flower festival which lines the streets. If you prefer ancient history, then make a trip to Syracuse which is 53km away. Syracuse is a melting pot of cultures and is filled with historic buildings and monuments. A great place to start exploring, is the Archaeological Park Neapolis which is packed with a wealth of Greek and Roman ruins. Another way to immerse yourself in Syracuse is with a walking tour through the ancient streets, if you are a foodie you could book onto a food and wine tour meaning you get to enjoy the sites and the local cuisine at the same time.
