The cottage is positioned on a peninsula of land which extends nearly 40 miles into the krill rich Bay of Fundy, which is world famous for whale watching. The peninsula is approximately 2 miles wide, so the fact that it is so near the ocean on both sides is not evident, especially as it overlooks a fresh water trout lake. Hot summers, a short warm spectacular autumn and cold winters is the typical weather in this part of Canada being as far south as Burgundy in France. Further down the peninsula are two picturesque islands which are dotted with fishing villages and secluded coves. The fishermen fish for lobster in the winter and take people on reasonably priced whale watching and deep sea fishing trips in the summer. A trip to the islands is an exciting day out in itself on the inexpensive Goverment run car ferries. The area is a true country lovers paradise and the pace of life is perfect for a relaxing break.DescriptionThe cottage is quite large and is two story. It has three bedrooms, a good sized kitchen, a dining room with a dining table to seat 6, a living room and den and a separate utility room with washing machine and dryer. The gardens and grounds are just under 4 acres and incorporate a woodland, where in the summer, there is a trail from which the numerous plants, flowers and trees can be enjoyed. The area around the cottage is mowed and kept more formal with fruit bushes such as gooseberries, black currants and red currants There are also apple trees and rhubarb. Please help yourself to the fruit. There is a Bar-B-Q for use in the garden which is kept in the wood shed, where the wood for the open fire is stored. There is a constant supply of hot water available from the modern automatic oil furnace which is in the basement. The interior of the cottage is clean and bright and lots of modern facilities are available. As the owners stay at the cottage each year, there is lots of crockery and decent sized pans and other cooking necessities which are of a good standard. Cooking is on a new electric range. There are lots of interesting items in the cottage, a good library of books, a selection of magazines, DVDs and video tapes. The property has been furnished as a second home and is therefore superior to normal sterile holiday accommodation. The cottage was inspected by the Nova Scotia tourist board, complies with their high standards and is licenced. AttractionsThere is lots to do in Nova Scotia and every time you turn a corner as you travel along the rocky sea coast you will be met with a different vista. The province played an important part in colonial history and the loyalists were deported to Nova Scotia after the American war of Independence. Many of the descendents of the original families still live in the area and the cottage is situated on a sub division of one of the original grants of land which were quite often 100 acres in size.
