Novelda has a wide variety of attractions for all to enjoy. There are numerous historic interests including the St Mary Magdalene Sanctuary, built in marble, and constructed in early 20th Century by a pupil of Gaudi, who built the famous cathedral in Barcelona. At its side is a 12th Century triangular tower built by the Moors. Both are amazing sights, and located only 5 minutes drive from the villa. The town itself has breathtakingly beautiful art nouveau buildings, museums and fantastic architecture. There are many typically Spanish restaurants, bars, coffee shops, ice cream parlours, supermarkets ( including Carrefour Express, Aldi and Lidl, with Carrefour Hyphermarket being 15 minutes away) banks Pharmacies etc, as well as a well informed and helpful Tourist Information Office (English spoken well). There are local markets held in the town on a Wednesday and Saturday, where clothes, goods, shoes and fresh produce can be purchased. There is also the beautiful park Oeste or Western Park which has a botanical garden, and is a lovely place to walk through. During the summer, music festivals are often held here to celebrate the Moors and Christians fiesta. The people in the town are warm, helpful and friendly as this is the real Spain, and it is lovely to see Spanish people going about their everyday business.
There are a number of bodegas in close proximity to the villa which is an excellent opportunity to buy local wine. Our local Bodega in Novelda provides a tour and talk about the the production of wine, and more importantly, some wine tasting. This Bodega provides wine in the bottle and is of exceptionally high standard and has won many awards.
A recent publication of the travel book "Top 10" Costa Blanca, details a number of entries for Novelda - including the Casa museo Modernista, restaurant and the St Mary Magdelane Sanctuary.
There is an excellent internet cafe (1 euro for 30 minutes) in the town, which also offers printing/faxing services.
The Villa We consider car hire essential for this property due to its location. All instances of approx. time from villa Novelda to airport, shops, beach etc, which are quoted in the advert, is driving time unless otherwise stated.
There is no gas in the property at all. Everything is run on electricity.
Villa Novelda is at the end of a quiet lane, and although there are neighbours, due to the large garden of 2 acres, makes this a beautifully quiet and private location with out being isolated. The villa has the wow factor , which is why we chose this as our Spanish home originally. Upon arrival, it is clear to see why. The space, the peaceful location, pool, terracing and above all the views, all make this a perfect and ideal holiday home. The villa is in a countryside location, and is surrounded by paths/lanes suitable for walking and cycling. This is an excellent opportunity to appreciate the countryside and views that accompany it. In the land around the villa, you will find many vineyards growing both grapes for wine, and desert grapes for eating at Christmas, these are easily distinguishable as they have white bags over the fruit to stop them drying out in the sun, olive, peach, almond and citrus trees.
The villa, pool and plentiful sunbathing terraces are south facing. In fact from the minute the sun rises in the morning, and sets in the evening, the pool and the villa grounds are in the glorious sunshine.
The pool area is child friendly, as it has a lockable gate and is fully enclosed with balustrades. There is specialist floor covering around the pool which is not only non slip, but remains cool underfoot, even in the hottest of days. The pool is 10m x 5m, with roman steps and a handrail for safety and ease whilst entering the pool. A ladder provides an exit from the deep end. A pool side shower is also provided. The pool is professionally cleaned and maintained all year round.
Of an evening, you have a choice as to where you relax, whether it be in the casita area or summer kitchen which provides a BBQ, fridge, outside WC and ample terracing and lighting watching the sun set, or, sitting under the porch terrace with views out to the town in the distance.
The kitchen has Bosch appliances - dishwasher and washing machine.
Inside the villa is just about everything that you could need during your stay. We have furnished this as our home, not as a rental property which has ensured that we have provided comfort and quality. Apart from kitchen, which is north facing, there are ceiling fans in each room and there are ample towels and bedding available for your use. During the winter evenings, there is a wood burning fire enclosed with a glass door, this gives a max of 14kw of heat which heats the entire villa. However for additional comfort, there are 3 oil filled radiators which can be used as and when required.

There is a strong signal for mobile phones with excellent reception.
Around and About The town centre of Novelda is a 5 minute drive away, and although there are lots of amenities which are close by, car hire is essential. The beautiful Blue Flag beaches along the Costa Blanca are approx 30 minutes away, with many miles of sandy beaches. Santa Pola is the nearest beach, which has lovely restaurants and beachside cafes. Approx 20 minutes drive away is the town of Aghost, which specialises in the manufacture of ceramic plates, pots, garden ornaments and is amazingly good value for money. Well worth a visit. The Alenda Golf course is a 10 minute drive away , and is a lovely place to play golf - however, non golfers often go to the club house to enjoy a meal or refreshments in the court yard or the restaurant. There are a selection of approx 8 other Golf courses (e.g.Villamartin, Las Ramblas, Campamoar) within 45 minutes drive. La Manga is approx 1hour 15 minutes away. We have contacts of good websites if required for the Local Golf Courses which give details of location, prices, handicap requirements etc.
If anybody is staying at our villa that would like to discuss property purchases - process, contacts for lawyers, builders etc we are more than happy to help.
