The villa is situated in a beautiful valley region known as La Safor. The nearby mountain village, called Barx, is less than a kilometer down the road. Barx has 2 supermarkets which sell all the essentials, 3 butchers, 2 bakeries, 5 bars, two excellent restaurants, a pharmacy, a bricabrac shop, and electrical goods shop, two hairdressers, a bank and a doctor’s surgery. There is a market in the village square ontuesday mornings, selling clothes, plants, ceramics, sweets and fresh fish. A short 20 minute drive trough orange groves and glorious mountain scenery brings you to the golden sandy beaches of the Costa del Azahar. This little known corner of Spain has wonderful beaches and has the advantage of being off the main busy tourist routes. The town of Gandia is a 15 minutes drive from the villa. The elegant city of Valencia is about 50 minutes by car and train. Valencia is the nearest airport, at about 1 hours drive, on easy motorway. Alicante airport is about 2 hours drive, on easy motorway. Car hire is recommended due to the rural location of the villa. But it is possible to fly to Valencia and get a train to Gandia and a taxi up to the villa. There are also buses twice a day to and from Gandia.
