There is a terrace with hammocks in front of the beach. There is a barbecue with palm kiosk and beach garden shower. The house is located in a safe, quiet and peaceful village with a lot of character and very friendly people.
There are two restaurants and several little shops in the village, including bakery, butcher, pharmacy and an ice cream café in front of the house. There are some fine dining restaurants at luxury guesthouses within walking distance of the house.
The seawater is tropical warm for a swim. The sea comes until near the front garden at high tide, and the beach stretches up to 500meter at low tide. The water is shallow in front of the house and is very safe for swiming and for children to play in the water and on the beach. The Sao Bento beach is known for Cockles, which are being picked daily from the beach and are a local delicacy cooked in a coconut stew.
There are two rivers with picturesque views and nice swimming areas at walking distance from the house via the beach.
There are snorkelling trips with a catamaran that leave from the Sao Bento beach, about 1km from the house. The trips go to the famous "Gales de Maragogi", the so-called "natrual pools" at 6km into the ocean. They also offer snorkelling trips to the reefs in front of Japaratinga, a nearby fishing town.
There is a Dutch monastery ruin with magnificent views on top of the hill near the village, about 15minutes walk from the house. Paraiso Dos Coquerais hotel about 3km from the house also has a spectecular viewing point on top of the hill. They also offer horseriding at the hotel. Alternatively, 10km from the village inland there is a colonial manor farm for day trips with beautiful settings and horse riding.
The provincial seaside resort of Maragogi is 5km away, with many restaurants on the promenade, as well as shops and a market selling local handcrafts and souvenirs. Maragogi also offers a wide selection Catamaran snorkeling trips to the nearby coral reefs. There is also a PADI scuba diving school.
Following South from Sao Bento via the town of Japaratinga, you come accross one of the most beautiful beach tracks taking you to the ferry of Ponte das Pedras. Crossing this ferry takes you to some of the most exclusive natural beaches of Brazil, including Praia do Toque. Perfect for a day trip.
