PAMPLEMOUSSES GARDEN is well known to naturalists throughout the world for its large collection of indigenous and exotic plants including the giant Victoria Amazonica water lilies and many species of palm trees. Of particular interest is the Talipot Palm, said to flower once every 60 years after which it dies. The deer and tortoises are sure to delight the youngsters, whilst an old French mansion, Chateau Mon Plaisir, and an old sugar mill conjure up pictures of Mauritius’ rich historical past.
CHAMAREL: this exquisite site located in the south west consists of the seven coloured earth which are apparently the result of the erosion of volcanic ash.
